What IS USer/Western Policy vis a vis The Middle East?

Contrary to the putative evidence that there is none, I have for a long time believed that the long-term, overarching goal of USer/Western policy in the Middle East oil patch has been, in effect, to sponsor and encourage conflict between the various nations and religious factions, on the theory that the Shii’a and the Sunni factions of Islam in the Persian Gulf will--sooner than later--descend into open, wide-spread, bloody, internecine, sectarian strife.

From a Kissingerian, 'real-politik' perspective, it is by no means impossible or unthinkable that the fascist Neo-Con/Zionist/PNAC cabal in the US regime advocated and advanced the current, militaristic USer course in the region because they understood that USer presence and military activity would, indeed, eventually lead to mortal, regional strife, in the course of which the competing Muslim factions would reduce one another to chaotic impotence, and in the aftermath of which the West could move in and recolonize the resources…

Gotta keep dat awl a'flowin...
